Light Work and SPE’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions are joining forces for a conference on the current state of publishing and what this means for artists. Photographers are facing a very different world of publishing today with fewer options to work with a book publisher and entirely new opportunities for self-publishing and online promotion. The 2011 conference presents viewpoints from artists, publishers, and bloggers who have found unique ways to bring the best photography to the image hungry public. Events include lectures, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, exhibitions, and workshops. Exhibitions range from Scott McCarney’s artist books at Light Work to the exhibition From Here to There: Alec Soth’s America at the Everson Museum of Art. Any questions about the conference please contact Hannah Frieser at Light Work. jefriese@syr.edu Conference schedule at a glance: November 3-5, 2011 Click here for a complete Schedule Page Thursday, November 3: Pre-conference gallery reception for Scott McCarney’s exhibition and early conference registration. The exhibition will be the artist's first major survey assembled in the United States, exploring over 15 years of his career, and including an extensive new body of work. The exhibition was curated by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Any questions about the conference please contact Hannah Frieser at Light Work. jefriese@syr.edu Past Conference Schedules |
